How we rank VPN plans

Every ranking on VPN Scouting comes from the same published method. No provider can pay for a better spot.

1. We collect the prices

Every Sunday our scraper reads the pricing pages of all 27 providers and records each plan: its price, billing period and any free bonus months. If a provider's page can't be read, we keep showing the last plans we confirmed for it.

2. We make prices comparable

VPNs are sold per month, per year or for two years or more, often with free months added. We divide the total price by every month you get, free months included, so each plan shows a real monthly price in US dollars. Where you get an extra discount through our link, we use the price you would actually pay.

3. We rank the plans

  • Cheapest ranks plans by monthly price, lowest first.
  • Most features gives each provider points for the features it offers: a no-logs policy (15), streaming support (12), a kill switch (10), WireGuard (10), split tunneling (8), double VPN (8), P2P (8), an ad blocker (8) and a dedicated IP option (6). Ties go to the cheaper plan.
  • Most countries ranks by the number of countries with servers, then by price.
  • Most devices ranks by how many devices you can connect at once, with unlimited first, then by price.

The top 50 plans of each ranking are listed:

4. What we leave out

The rankings only look at price and the features a provider lists. They don't measure connection speed, whether a streaming service works today or how good the support is, so read the reviews on each provider page too. Features come from each provider's own website.
